Liberty Village is a fabulous growing community nestled south of King St W between Strachan Ave and Dufferin St. A little removed from the bustle of King St W and Queen St W, there is a peaceful vibrance to life here. And although you’re a only short way from all the city’s best shopping, entertainment and nightlife, you might just find everything you want right here in Liberty Village. This ultra-trendy area offers tons of fantastic places to shop, from the chic boutiques and gourmet food shops in the Liberty Market building, to the convenience of the 24 hour Metro grocery store in the heart of the neighbourhood and there is a local farmers market every Sunday in season. There is also an increasing number of fun pubs and delicious restaurants to try right outside your door. The exhibition grounds and BMO field are a short walk away.
If you’re craving some time outside, there’s a park towards the east side of Liberty Village on East Liberty St that makes for a great place to take your dog for a walk or to relax on a nice day. You could also walk up to beautiful Trinity Bellwoods Park at Crawford and Queen St W for a picnic, a skate, a game of tennis, a swim or a visit to the great community recreation centre there. At the foot of Strachan there is also Coronation Park, a beautiful and peaceful waterfront park. Getting to where you need to go couldn’t be easier, there is bus service through Liberty Village up to Ossington Subway station or the King Streetcar is just around the corner. You also have easy access to the Lakeshore and the Gardiner Expressway and the GO Train Station through the underpass at the bottom of the street.
Ever dreamed of a really cool place to live and work? This is it! Eclectic, artsy, and stylish … fabulous spacious loft living!
Let’s begin at the top - walk up the brightly lit staircase (from the front or rear) and enter into a wonderful, unique 1,858 sf living space. From the soaring ceilings to the artfully painted floor, this wide open home is spacious, bright and hip. All but the bedroom and bathroom is one large living space, cleverly furnished as different “rooms”. Some of the terrific features here include exposed loft ducts, three bright skylights, really high ceilings and the fabulous floor, which is concrete, artistically painted to look like large terra cotta tiles. This open concept living area is great for entertaining.
As you enter, there is a welcoming seating area, a sort of “foyer”. At the front of this loft is the living room, quite elegant, with its two tall windows and built-in breakfront bookcase / media unit. In the middle is the fabulous kitchen… dark granite counters, cherry cabinets, sleek black appliances, all accentuated by the warm glow of potlights and under cabinet lighting… gorgeous! The island holds the double sink and lots of storage cabinets, including a built-in wine rack on one end and shelves for cookbooks on the other, and the overhang makes a great breakfast bar. There is a space to add a dishwasher.
Next to the kitchen is the dining area with granite-topped table and another nice seating area opposite, next to the back stairs. Towards the back of this level, you find a unique, interesting feature… a floating spiral staircase leading up to the rooftop. Up here you will find your oasis in the city, a terrific deck with great city views. There are built-in planters to hold an assortment of plants, an arbour and lattice fencing for vines to climb on. You can enjoy a profusion of colour here in the summer. You could add some shading material over the arbour and have a nice place to read, sheltered from the sun, or enjoy some terrific barbecues with your friends, lounging in the sunshine. This is a great place to watch the airshow and fireworks displays.
The master bedroom has French doors for privacy, while enjoying the openness of the loft—a large room, with a bright window, exposed duct, walk-in closet and ensuite laundry / storage. The four-piece bathroom has a step up to the elevated tub and separate shower stall.
Moving down the back stairs you get to the mezzanine level. Currently it’s used as a bright 1,087 sf office space with an outside back window, as well as a whole bank of windows along the wall facing the walkway, overlooking the two-storey workshop space below. There is a room that’s currently used for storage, but is roughed-in for a four-piece bathroom, which means that this could be converted into a nice studio apartment. Just add a small galley kitchen. On the walkway, under the stairs is quite a large storage area, which could also be used for perhaps a nice seating area or additional home office space for the studio apartment.
On the main level is the current workshop area. The back part underneath the office has normal height ceiling, while the front part soars two-storeys up at 17’9”! The garage doors open up and the impressive, towering wrought iron gates open out. There is a two-piece bathroom here where you could easily add a shower. There is an alcove with workbench and cupboards which could be converted into a fabulous kitchen. Top this all off with hanging ceiling fans and lights for a fantastic space.
