How Much of Your Life is Spent Waiting in Elevators?

If you live in a high-rise condo, you know all too well the problems that can arise when one or more elevators go out of service!

But how much of your day & life is spent waiting for these elevators?

Lets take a rough calculation of 1 minute waiting for the elevator (might seem like a lot but happens more often than not!) and another minute for the elevator to stop off at other floors before dropping you to your level, and say you do this 3-5 times a day.

1 + 1 = 2 min per trip

x

3-5 trips/day

= 6-10 minutes per day waiting/using the elevator

Times this by 365 days & you have spent roughly 2190-3650 minutes or 1.5-2.5 DAYS OF YOUR YEAR in elevators!

And this is just hoping that all the elevators are working properly!

But what happens when your condo is slow to do repairs on these essential elevators?

Unfortunately up until now, not much

A proposed change to Ontario law would like to solve this issue by mandating that all building owners must perform preventative maintenance on these elevators, something that is now at an "all-time low" according to The Canadian Press.

We'll be sure to keep you updated on any progress with this proposed bill!
